I love it when I get a phone call and not only does the person want to work with me but that they "Fell in love with my style" are words I think every artist wants to hear.  Angelique Brown was looking for a Promotional Shoot for her first break-out song Kiss Me.  It's beautiful and kinda upbeat, but when you listen deep into the lyrics you realize it's about an abusive relationship. Angelique went on explaining to me that she was in a horrible abusive relationship and was homeless for a bit because of it. She went on about how she got out of the situation but it's just insane to me what she had to go through with her child just to do so. Her story resonated with me and I knew I now really wanted to do her session! The supposed system that is set up is week and difficult to navigate. You as the mom have to leave your home with your children and sleep in a shelter, You as the mom need to work 2 jobs trying to save enough money to get away from the situation. You have the weight of the world on top of you plus the burden of financial responsibility and don't forget trying not to get your ass kicked every time your spouse feels like it. It's a horrible situation to be in, but once there's you and children involved and years have gone by, It a dangerous and almost impossible situation to get out of.  I was so honored to do her session, The photos turned out amazing and we had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs. I seriously am so happy for Angelique, I'm glad she is in a better place in her life and I hope she gets an amazing record deal and continues to create music with her beautiful voice.

* Id usually say if you are in a similar situation here's info that could help, mixed with some wise words of wisdom, but I don't have that. I only have a few names of shelters and no words. Physical and mental abuse takes such a toll on all involved. The only thing I can say is the more you tell all the people around you the better your chances of getting some kind of help :(
